Iran: nation-wide

End of November a geotourism atlas with more then 1000 photos of geolocical phenomena will be released in Iran.
The atlas covers the entire 30 provinces of Iran and will be published in English and Persian languages and is released in cooperation with Geological and Mineral Explorations Organization and National Website on Earth Sciences.
Geotourism is a term used by National Geographic for tourism that enhances the geographical character of a place: its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents.

In the Pakistan city of Peshawar has an Iranian diplomat been kidnapped. The commercial attache was kidnapped and his driver was killed when they hit an ambush on the way to work.
In recent times the province has been the scene of some of the worst fightings between Pakistani forces and pro-Taliban militants.



The Expediency Council reports that any report of Khatami's definite decision to run for president in the upcoming elections is false.
The daily Vatan-e-Emrooz wrote Wednesday that Khatami had a three hour meeting with the chair of the Expediency Council to discuss his candidacy.
Khatami has expressed disinterest in running in the elections and has set preconditions for his candidacy, requiring more power if elected as the tenth president. .


Last summer, a number of students were detained by the Ministry of Intelligence under charges of organizing and holding membership in anti-government groups to breach national security.
These students were :Sajad Radmehr, Mansoor Aminian, Faraz Zehtab, Idin Khajei, Maghsood Ahdi, Amir Mardani and Ehsan Najafi-Nasab, all of whom are Azeri activists in Tabriz University, Elchin Hatami, an ex-student of Tabriz University and Majid Makoei-Zad, a student in Malek-Ashtar University in the city of Isfehan.
October 28th they were released on bail between $22,000 and $52,000.
After this their lawyers were told on a hearing that the first court session will be held on January 17, 2009.
