Iran: pressure

IRNA reported that in Lakarprison in the city of Rasht, Gilan province, two men are hanged.
The men, Parviz K. and Afrasiab N. were convicted for the murder on a governmental official in April 2005.
The man was abducted on his way to work in the city of Masal. He was murdered in the forests near Masal.


A member of the Iranian Majlis Presiding Board says there are no impeachments on the agenda of the parliament.
Last week the Interior Minister was dismissed.
Some media speculated on the impeachment of the ministers for education, information and communication technology, health and medical education as well as the minister for agriculture.


The student bodies of 29 Iranian universities have demanded to end the pressure faced by Azerbaijanis.
In a statement they condemn the psychological and physical pressure against jailed Azerbaijani activists and called for honoring the rights of ethnic minorities in Iran.
The editor-in-chief of the Dilmanj journal, Alireza Sarrafi, poet Mehdi Naimi, writer for the Varlig (Wealth) magazine, Hasan Rashedi, and another journalist, Sayid Muhammadi, were among some 20 Azerbaijani activists detained on September 10.
The four have launched a hunger strike in protest at the pressure they are facing in jail.
