Iran: halted

Hood Yazerlou an industrial management student on Massoomein University in Qom has been transferred to solitary confinement since 7 December in 209 section of Evin prison.
This happened after he informed his family during a visit about the transfer of Kamyar and Arash Alaei (two Aids specialists) to solitary confinement in Evin prison.
Yazerlou was arrested on 24 May 2008, for no clarified reason, after he came back from visiting his aunt who is a member of the PMOI in Iraq. During his arrest he is tortured by repriving him blankets, warmth and sanitary facilities.



Womans right activist Nasrin Sotoudeh is prevented by authorities to travel to Italy to receive an award from the Italian human rights organization.
At arrival at the airport her passport was confiscated.
Her husband and her children had been able to leave Tehran and will receive the award from Italian group Human Rights International on her behalf.



The Committee of Human Rights Reporters reports that the physical condition of the four detained students of Alameh university who began a hunger strike after their detention, is getting worse.
Mehdieh Golro, the only female student had a seizure episode after 7 days of hungerstrike and was transferred to the prison’s medical unit from the woman's section.
Sadegh Shojai, Saeed Faizullah-Zadeh and Majid Dari are still on hungerstrike.
The students were arrested when they hold a sit-in protest demanding to be allowed to return to the School of Literature in Alameh University.
