The Iranian Interior Ministry said May 3rd is the first day of the official registration of candidates for presidency. Candidates have five days to registrate and bring the required documents.
Until now Mehdi Karroubi of the Reformist Etemad-e Melli (National Confidence) party, and ex-president Khatami official announced their official decision to run for presidency.
It is also expected that ex prime minister, Mir-Hossein Moussavi will be a candidate.
President Ahmadinejad is believed to be candidate for the conservative Principlist.

The spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry said that the three islands in Persian Gulf (Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa) are inseparable parts of Iran.
He said this after a statement of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Iran possesses historical, legal and geographical documents verifying that these islands belong to the Islamic Republic.
They fell temporarily under British Control, but in 1971, before the state of the United Arab Emirates was created, they were returned through a legal process. According to international regulations, no state can defy any agreement that had come into being before that state's creation.

Tuesday, February 24, Farzad Kamangar was transferred out of Rajaei Shahr Prison in karaj.
Since then, neither his lawyer or his family were able to get any information on his whereabouts.
Kamangar is sentenced to death and his appeal for a stay of execution and review of the trial was denied by the head of justice.

Since Thursday the site of student newspaper Amir Kabir Newsletter is attacked from various localities and was out of service for many hours.
Amir Kabir Newsletter is a site known for covering student news,and the attacks started after the publication of the arrests of protesting students by plainclothes agents. The students protested against reburial of dead of the Iran-Iraq war on campusgrounds.
