Iran: meaning


Five workers of Haft Tapeh Sugar Refinary are sentenced to prison for charges with involvement in holding demonstrations.
Jalil Ahmadi, Faraydoon Nikofar, Ali Nejati, Ghorban Alipour are sentenced to one year in prison, with six months suspension and Mohammad Haydari-Mehr, is sentenced to one year in prison, with eight months suspension. For all the suspensions will be effective for a period of five years and they are not allowed to attend all labor-related activities for three years.

During a meeting held between the members of the Coordinating Committee to Assist in the Establishment of Labor Organizations and the family members of an imprisoned worker, all present members of the Committee were detained by the police.
The name of the worker is Ghaleb Husseini, who is detained for his participation in the May 1 ceremony last year.
After discussions and pressure used by the police to persuade the Coordinating Committee members to quit the organization,everybody was released at the end of the afternoon.
Among the detainees was a 14 year-old boy who was treated like others and had to go through fingerprinting and photographing procedures.

Iranian national soccer coach Mohammad Mayelikohan, has resigned only two weeks after he took the post following Ali Daei's dismissal.
Mayelikohan,who is also coach of footballteam Saipa, was during a duel with club Esteqlal confronted with chants from a group of Esteqlalsupporters, which he said were insulting.
Following this he criticized the Esteqlalcoach. He also complained that he not was supported by the IFF.
According to the IFF, a new coach will be appointed within days.

The new Anti-Money Laundering law is, since the law is approved, now being implemented by the Central Bank of Iran in the banks of the country.
The law passed already in parlement, January 2008, but needed approval of the Guardian Council.
By this law the moneylaundering by criminal organizations will put to a halt.
