Iran: concern

January 14th was Ostad Ilya (aka. Payman Fatahi), the leader of Al Yasin Society, the biggest cultural-spiritual society in Iran, arrested for the second time by agents from a section of the Ministry of Intelligence that monitors activities of religious groups and transfered to Evinprison.
The first time in 2007 he was imprisoned for six months and was subjected to suspicious injections which caused bleedings.
After his second arrest, the symptoms were reported to be more severe.
His brother says that the religious monitoring unit within the Ministry of Intelligence rejected medical assistance.
In march his wife was also arrested for a brief period.

Considering the prevalence of suspicious death among Al-Yasin members in Iranian prisons, such as in the cases of Omid Mirsayafi and Amir-Hussein Heshmatsaran, and that of Ramin Fatahi, another brother of Payman in 2007, there are ample concerns about Mr. Fatahi’s wellbeing inside the prison.
The members of Al Yasin Society ask the immediate release of Fatahi and other imprisoned members of Al Yasin Society.

The Iranian chief of Police Brigadier General Ismail Ahmadi-Moqaddam says the tense situation on Iran's borders with neighboring countries is 'worrisome'.
The situation on the eastern borders with Afghanistan, Pakistan and its western borders with Iraq and Turkey are somehow chaotic and also the long water borders in the south could pose threats to the country if not tightly controlled.
Earlier this week he said that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) from now will take care of security on the eastern borders.
