Iran: judiciary

Reports of Ward 7 of Gohardasht prison say that Mahnaz Akbar Tehrani, 22 committed suicide to to escape “unbearable torture” by prison guards.
Human rights activists say that she was taken to the Protection and Security Department in prison and severely tortured to a point that she had to be helped to walk to her cell and was left with a bloody face.
Female prisoners in solitary cells get one ration of food per day and are kept hungry.
There have been reports that female prisoners are being raped by guards as a means of torturing them.
The activists who requested anonymity said that they are only allowed to use the bathroom twice in 24 hours, are banned from taking a shower, and live in inhuman hygienic conditions.

All four main Iranian presidential candidates have indicated their readiness to reveal their personal assets to the country's judiciary.
Saturday president Ahmadinejad made the suggestion in a television electiondebate with his rival Mehdi Karroubi.
The head of the Karroubi campaign headquarters said that he and all the members of Karroubi camp would provide lists of their personal assets.
Also the personal secretaries of Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mohsen Razaei said they are ready to announce their camps assets.
Thousands extra police forces have been tasked with maintaining public security as votes go to polls on Friday.
Thursday hooligans attacked the Center for Strategic Research following a nationally-televised debate.
