Iran: said and written

CNN reports that a top-general of the joined Iranian armed forces said that troops rather die than back down in the face of protests.
According to Fars newsagency he said that some may think that by protesting and chanting their slogans against us, we will back down, retreat and give up, but we are as prepared to sacrifice our lives as in the Iraq-Iranwar.
Gen. Sayyed Hassan Firouzabadi, chief of Iran's Joint Armed Forces, said that the military uniform, in the system of the Islamic Republic, is the uniform of the Prophet's faithful and it is the uniform of service to the supreme leadership and the people.

Human Rights Activists in Iran wrote down witnesses reports about the situation in Evin prison in Tehran.
Prisoners are being beaten and tortured . Because of the many arrested, there is no space enough in prison and people are interrogated and tortured in corridors.
Apart from Evin prison, those arrested are often taken to very old prisons which are not even usable.
Also the main quarantine of the Evin prison is undergoing a terrible condition due to a high number of prisoners.One of the tortures used a lot these days is keeping the prisoners awake on their feet and not allowing them to sleep. This kind of torture is mostly used for prisoners who are supposed to be taken in front of the cameras in order to confess. It has been said that these prisoners are chosen by judge Mortazavi, and their case is dealt by him too.
During the interrogation by the interrogators apart from the harsh tortures, bad language is also used. Judge Hadad and his deputy Heydarifar, will be dealing with most of these case themselves.

Ali Ojaghi, secretary of the Islamic Student Association is arrested and released after hours of interrogation.
Majid Dorri who was released after his arrest was again arrested on Thursday July 9th in his house in Tehran and taken to an undisclosed location.

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has declared that the inflation rate in the country over the twelve months ending 22 May 2009, has dropped to 22.5 percent.
The statement is based on a review of prices of 359 goods and services in Iran's urban areas.
This is an improvement compared to the 24.2 percent inflationrate in the year to April.

The head of the judiciary in the Sistan-e-Baluchestan province says that Interpol helps to trackdown Abdulmalek Rigi.
The reason is because the Jundullah group is operating from beyond the country's borders.
Since last March bombings of Zahedan, the whereabouts of Rigi are unknown.
The brother of Abdulmalek Rigi, Abdulhamed Rigi, told that Jundullah is backed by CIA with arms and money. Jundullah is said to be closely affiliated with al-Qaeda.
The Asia Times reported that al-Qaeda militants have sought to establish an alliance with Jundullah to fulfill longstanding plans of creating a strategic corridor in the region Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran.
