Iran: shift

Ali Larijani, speaker of parliament rejected the accusation that some moderates had been raped in jails after their detention in unrest following the June election.
He says that it are all lies.
Statetelevision quoted him saying "Based on parliament's investigations, detainees have not been raped or sexually abused in Iran's Kahrizak and Evin prisons. Such claims are totally baseless".
Mehdi Karroubi wrote that there are reports that male and female prisoners were raped in prison.
Last week, Ali Khamenei closed Kahrizakprison after authorities have acknowledged some protesters were tortured at Kahrizak and said its director had been jailed.

Mehrnews reported Mohammad Sadeq Larijani will succeed Mahmoud Shahroudi officially as head of Iran judiciary,
He is one of five brothers of Ali Larijani,and is currently a politician cleric and a member of the Guardian Council.
Another Larijani brother heads the Judiciary's human rights department.

The congratulation-letter from UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon to president Ahmadinejad will not be published.
Yesterday the UN told the letter was sent.
The UN says it is a customary letter on occasion of inauguratios.
Nobellaureate Shirin Ebadi asked in Seoul where she accepted a peaceprize, if Ban ki-Moon can visit Iran to receive a first-hand account of human rights abuses.

The Revolutionary Court in Kurdistan convicted Bahman Seyyedi, 20, Houshiar Ahmadi, 19, Seyvan Rahimi, 20 en Sirvan Mohammadi, 26 each to six years imprisonment for propaganda against the regime and cooperating with a Kurdish party.
The court also sentenced Jahanbakhsh Ahmadi to one year and four months imprisonment for propaganda against the regime.
The trial was held two weeks ago without the presence of a defense lawyer.
The men were imprisoned three months ago and were accused of Moharebeh, enmity with God, a charge carrying the death penalty in Iran.
