Iran: show-offs

Iran Human Rights writes that in a by Fars newsagency published report more then 100 people were on trial , charged with:
"participated in riots, acting against national security, disturbing public order, vandalising public and government property, having ties with counter-revolutionary groups and of planning to launch a velvet revolution."
Serious were the accusations against several people within the Iranian women’s rights movement and arrested lawyer Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, who has defended many political prisoners.
Some of the accusations could be punished by several years of prison or even death penalty.
The spokesman of Human Rights in Iran, says that these trials are unjust and summaric.
None of those put on trial had defence lawyers and they have been under psycological and physical torture during the past 40 days.

Former president Khatami wrote on his website that the trial would further damage confidence in Iran's Islamic establishmen.
The reformist party Mosharekat says that the "confessions" have been forced and that "even a cooked chicken" would laugh at the charges.
BBCcorrepondent Persian says that timing and scale of the trial came as a surprise and suggested Iran's leadership wanted to send a message to stop any more protests but judging from messages on micro-blogging site twitter and the internet, the correspondent says, the move may have had the opposite effect.

Newsagency Fars reports that in Ardabil province Wednesday three people were arrested for devilworshipping.
Two men and a woman were arrested in Parsabad and various artefacts, under which jewelry in the form of human skulls, have been confiscated.

German firm Knauf Gips KG has withdrawn the threatletter that employees who got arrested while demonstrating for opposition parties will be fired, after the policy got publicity.
The letter (.pdf) was written by Isabel Knauf, a familymember of the founders, who works at Knauf Iran P.J.S.C. in Iran.
