Iran: interest

The student in sociology Hassan Salamat,is sentenced by the 26th Branch of the Revolutionary Courts in Tehran, to 4 years in prison.
Salamat was among the large group of activists arrested after the presidential election.
He was detained in ward number 209 of Evin prison for two months but was later released on bail.
His lawyer will object to court's verdict.

Journalist and editor-in-chief of Ham Mihan website, Maziar Khosravi is charged with publishing an article concerning a raid on the Tehran University campus by special guards and an organized group of plainclothes agents.

A citizen of Bukan, Kaveh Mahmoud-Moradi who recently returned from a foreign trip is, arrested in Orumieh.
Mahmoud-Moravi resides in England and had returned to Iran two months ago.
Hij has been charged with espionage.

The American government alleged a lawsuit against The Alavi Foundation, part owner of a 36-store officebuilding in New York.
In 2008 started USA the original case, which sought to seize the interest in the building held by ASSA Co., a company based in the U.K.’s Channel Islands, claiming the Iranian government’s Bank Melli co- owned the building through ASSA.
The new complaint seeks to seize the Alavi Foundation’s interest in this building as well as accounts and property the Alavi Foundation owns in New York, Maryland, Virginia, Texas and California.
Four mosques belong to the group.
The US claims that the Alavi Foundation, which was originally founded by the shah, for more then twenty years have been directed by various Iranian officials.
