Iran: in and on the air

Ali Kaffashian, president of Iranian Soccer Federation apologized for sending a NewYears greeting to Israel's football federation.
A member of his staff resigned also.

Iran has banned 60 European and Amerikan groups, organizations and media due to their involvement in the soft war after the election.
Listed are, among others, the Soros Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the East European Democratic Centre (EEDC), Wilton Park, the Smith Richardson Foundation, and the United States' National Defense University.

According to Iran several foreigners were arrested during last week’s massive opposition demonstration.It was impossible to tell whether the claim was true .
The Iranian minister of information told on state television that the foreigners “were leading a psychological war against the system."
Currently the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office is checking a report that a British national was arrested.
Last week Times Online received a forged letter suggesting that Khamenei, the Supreme Leader, was preparing to flee to Russia.
A state-controlled news agency claimed falsely that Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi, the opposition leaders, had fled Tehran.
Some opposition activists believe that the regime plants damaging stories about itself so that it can disprove them and accuse the opposition of spreading lies.

Journalist Bahman Ahmadi-Amouei,(the husband of Jila Baniyaghoub) who was arrested in June after the election, is sentenced to seven years in prison and 34 lashes.
The blog Iran Watch Canada published a list of imprisoned pournalists.
These are:
Ahmad Zeidabadi, Isa Saharkheiz, , Emad Baghi, Masoud Bastani, Said Leilaz, Ms. Badrolsadat Mofidi, Ms. Nasrin Vaziri, Mashaollah Shamsolvaezin, Kayvan Samimi, Reza Nourbakhsh, Sasan Aghaei, Kayvan Mehregan, Reza Tajik.



36 pro-government members of parliament proposed a bill that would reduce the deadline for seeking appeal from twenty days to five days in the cases dealing with Moharebeh.
Moharebeh is a term being used to sentence people to death who are fighting the regime.
The text of the letter is explicit dealing with reducing the appealdeadline to five days in case the accused is guilty of Moharebeh in the offences pertaining to disturbance of public order after the presidential election.
