Hardliners in Iran are hard working to silence prominent clerics and dissidents.
The Society of Qom Seminary Teachers in Qom have announced that reformist Grand Ayatollah Yousuf Sanei is no longer marja al-taqlid, a cleric who answers religious questions, which is an aspect in shia-islam.
Sanei was heavily crticized for his critics on the Ahmadinejad administration.
The Society does not have the authority to do such disqualification, since there is no body about this in shia-islam.
The Society which was established in 1961 has always supported the far right in the Islamic Republic and is headed by Mohammad Yazdi, former head of the Judiciary.
