Iran: escape

Akram Mahdavi is sentenced to death as accomplice to the murder on her husband in 2006.
Since then she is in jail. In a interview with the Committee for Human Rights Reporters she tells about the background of this murder.
She also tells that she is being beaten and tortured in prison and that she was taken to be executed, but in the last moment they stopped with the execution.
In a letter to Haj Kazem, the director of Rajai Shahr prison she wrote that she cannot endure the torture in prison any more and asks to be executed if she does not receive a pardon from the victim’s family.

In the newspaper Washington Post is an article about gay Iranians. After the June election and the harsh crackdown they fled to Turkey.
In Turkey they have to wait 3 to 4 years for the United Nations who processes their applications for asylum.
Currently there are approximately 300 gay Iranian refugees in Turkey.
