The strike at the Tehran Bazaar began its second week. It started initially among the gold and silvertraders in Tehran, but spreaded to other cities.
The strike, the second at the bazaar to protest government policies since the 1979 revolution, began last week after the government proposed a 70 percent income tax increase and has continued even after the government lowered the planned increase to 15 percent.
Websites report that also the bazaars in Isfahan and Tabriz are closed.
The economy has been very bad, and the merchants do not think that the taxes should increase at all.
