Iran: judicious

In the city of Mashhad are suddenly more then 70 people executed.
Some of the executed people were sentenced in the past on drugsrelated charges and in some cases, the individuals only had to pay a monetary penalty.
However, their sudden death sentence was issued by the judiciary authorities.
According to Nedaye Sabz Azadi (Iran Green Voice) the authorities have not stated a reason for the sudden executions but it is believed that the intelligence and security organizations have made such decision.
Children below the legal age of 18 have also been among the people recently executed.
The political activist Ahmad Ghabel stated that during the 3 months he spent in Ward 6.1 of Vakil Abad Prison, the prisonauthorities announced that more then 50 people were executed after they were transferred to Ward 6.1. According to Ghabel in one occasion, 31 people were executed, and the Press Department of the Khorasan Judiciary had told a newspaper that 5 smugglers have been put to death.


Five of 17 hungerstrikers in Evinprison were transferred to the Prosecutor's office where they were threathened with six months confinement in isolation cells.
The prisoners, Kouhyar Goodarzi, Bahman Ahmad Amouie, Keyvan Samimi, Gholamhossein Arashi, and Ali Malihi were also threatened with bans on visitation and telephone calls with family members for the duration of the six months in solitary confinement.
The journalist Keyvan Samimi entered the 21st day of his hungerstrike. He has insisted on remaining on hungerstrike. His health is deteriorating.Now its Ramadan, and water and tea are served only before sunrise [Sahar] and after sunset [Iftar] (when the fast is broken).



Reformist politician Mostafa Tajzadeh is called back to prison after filing a lawsuit with six other politicians against several commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps for their interference in Iran's presidential election of in June 2009.
The seven are four members of Organisation of Islamic Revolution Mujahidin (Behzad Nabavi, Mostafa Tajzadeh, Mohsen Aminzadeh, and Faizollah Arabsorkhi) and three members of the Islamic Iran Participation Front (chair Mohsen Mirdamadi, Abdollah Ramezanzadeh, and Mohsen Safaei Farahani). Both reformist parties have been outlawed by Iranian judiciary.
