Todays World Day against the Deathpenalty this year is focussed on USA.


Political prisoner Reza Malek, 70 was taken to solitary confinement again.He was recently transferred to ward 7 after months of solitary confinement in ward 240 of Evinprison.
Malek is imprisoned 10 years already in Evin and Rajaei Shahr prisons and is in bad physical condition.
He also spent years in the notorious Ghezel Hesarprison.Malek was an assistant in the Research Unit of the Intelligence Ministry under Ali Falahian before his arrest. It has been said that the reason for his detainment is the major role he has had in revealing the Political Chain Murders.

October 6, 2010 is civilrightsactivist Rasoul Badali arrested to serve his sentence.
He is sentenced to 2 years in prison for conspiracy and assembly to commit crimes against national security. His sentence was upheld by the Eastern Azerbaijan Appeals Court.

Nothing has been heard about Fatemeh Rahnama who is sentenced to 10 years in prison in exile in Izeh, since she was sent in exile. Her family does not know her whereabouts, since Izeh has no prison.

The lawyer Hossein Sarchahi, who is a Ashura detainee is in appeal also sentenced to 2 years in prison. He is held along with many other post- election prisoners in Ward 350 of Evinprison.
He has not been able to contact his family for months since the telephone system has been disconnected in Ward 350 for the past 3 months.

The workers of two factories in South-Iran went on strike demanding their unpaid wages.
A worker from papermill Kaghaz Pars Haftapeh told Radio Farda that the workers have not been paid for three months.
Several other factories are in the same situation.
