Iran: trials

On the international day against the death penalty, October 10, are in the prison of Zanjan 3 men and a woman hanged.
They were not named and all were convicted on drugsrelated charges.

Journalist Saied Razavi Faghih is after 19 months convicted in absentia to 4 years in prison and 74 lashes on charges of anti- regime propaganda, participating in illegal gatherings and insulting the Supreme Leader.
He traveled abroad after he was summoned.
He has worked for several reformist publications, Sobheh Emrouz, Bahar, Doraneh Emrouz, Bonyan, Nowruz, Yaseh No, and Vagahyeh Etefaghiyeh.
He has a PhD in Philosophy from Tarbiyat Moalem University and went to France to continue his education in another field.

Despite pressure the strike of gold sellers continued on Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Tehran, Shiraz, Hamedan, Babol, Ardebil and Orumiyeh.
According to reports, on Saturday, a representative of Ahmadinejad went to the Bazaar and asked gold sellers to reopen their shops.
The Iron Bazaar and fabric sellers also joined the strike in Tehran’s Bazaar.

Last Sunday Ali Abdullah Pooran a mineowner from Bukan was arrested by security forces.
Reports from Mokrian News Agency say that he has been accused of working with Opposition Parties, after a week he is transferred to Mahabadprison.

The trial against filmdirector Jafar Panahi starts November 7 at Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Judge Pir Abass.
March 2 Panahi, his wife and child, along with several guests, were arrested. All of whom except Panahi were later released.
Jafar Panahi was released on a bail of $185.000 on May 25th.

Ali Asghar Gharavi, a Nationalist-Religious activist was along with the Secretary General of the Iran Freedom Movement Ebrahim Yazdi, Hashem Sabaghian, Ghafar Farzodi and several other Freedom Movement of Irans activists detained on October 1st.
Although his family was told that he was to be released after his case was taken to the Clergy's Court, he was not released.
His wife told that he was arrested before and that she worries about this mistreatment. He also is in hungerstrike and suffers from backproblems.
