Iran: circles

Prisonguards of ward 2 of Gohardasht prison [Rajai Shahr] prohibited a memorial service for the father of political prisoner Karimpour Samadi who passed away a week earlier.
Approximately four months ago, Intelligence agents told his father by phone that they will execute his son that morning. This caused his father to have a brain aneurysm and he has died.
Karimpour Samadi is held in prison despite the lack of evidence against him in his file and a bail of $50,000.

After the arrests of four student activists last week, The Council to Defend the Right to Education issued a statement condemning the arrest of student activists Ali Qolizadeh, Ali Reza Kiani, Mohsen Barzegar, en Mohammad Heydarzadeh .
The Council to Defend the Right to Education is an organization whose membership includes starred students and students who have been deprived of a right to education and with many of the founding members in prison.

The Iranian Head of justitie Sadegh Larijani said on a meeting with the board members of Iran’s Bar Association that some declarations of Iranian lawyers regarding judicial procedures and in particular their interviews with foreign media are an insult to the Iranian judiciairy and the community.

Monday, the trial against Nasrin Sotoudeh started. The case was held behind closed doors and lawyers and family members were told not to discuss its details with foreign media.
In recent months were at least 10 lawyers arrested or convicted to jailterms.
The Human Rights Defenders Center, in 2003 founded by Shirin Ebadi is banned.The government is trying to intimidate such lawyers, who in the past also have acted as vocal supporters of human and women's rights.
Other lawyers say that this group is only damaging independence of lawyers and creating obstacles for defending the accused.

Iran has charged the two German journalists with espionage.
They were captured in October after they interviewed the son of Sakineh Mohammadi Astiani.
They have only been identified as a reporter and a photographer.
