Iran: establish

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that the report of the deteriorating human rights situation in Iran signals clear that the UN should establish a special monitoring and reporting mechanism.

Houshang Fanaian a Bahai of Amol was arrested yesterday and transferred to the detention facility of the Ministry of Information.
The reason is unknown.



During the month February were more then 332 people arrested in Iran.
71 students, 32 political activists and 8 journalists, 14 religious minorities, the most were Baha’is, 2 womansrightsactivists, 6 Arabic and 3 Kurdish activists were arrested in February.

March 3 is lawyer Maedeh Ghaderi arrested. She is a member of Iranian Bar Association and she repeatedly followed up the case of her arrested husband, Green Movement activist Ali Parandian at the court.

In Mahabad were Ebrahim Namdari and Javad Moghaddasi arrested and transferred to prison. The reason is unknown but it is speculated that they have been detained for security charges.

According to reports Ali Zahed will soon be executed because he was friends with executed political prisoner Mohsen Islami..
In March 2008 he was arrested for being friends with Mohsen Islami who was executed last year for giving financial aid to his brother.
After 19 months of detention he was charged of being a member of a monarchist association and complicity in the Shiraz bombing and sentenced to death.
