Iran: plan

The Iranian Border Guard Commander of the IRGC announced that Iran, as spelled out in the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan (2005-2010), plans to create new airforcebases in borderareas, to improve the defence.
Iran has 5,440 kilometers of total borders. In the North Iran borders Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan including 650 kilometers shoreline along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea.
In the West Iran borders Turkey and Iraq, in the East Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman states border the South.

Reported is that May 1st the Kurd Sherko Moarefi will be executed.
He is convicted of moharebeh(enmity with god) by membership of a Kurdish oppositiongroup.
He was arrested in October 2008 and stentenced to death. The verdict was upheld by the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court. In October 2009 his lawyer told that the request to the Amnesty and Clemency Commission had been rejected and that he had applied for a judicial review.
This also was denied.

In the past year were 191 prisoners sentenced to death on charges ranging from trading illegal substances, assault, and throwing stones.
The Amnesty and Forgiveness Commission granted clemency to 59 people.Plans are to hang 132 prisoners in the next few weeks.
