Iran: religion

May 3 were 2 men hanged in the city of Sari, Mazandaran province.The names of the men were not revealed.Further details are not known.

April 5 the First Branch van het Revolutionary Court in the city of Shiraz convictedPastor Behrouz Sadegh-Khanjani of the Church of Iran, and five churchmembers, Parviz Khalaj, Amin Afshar Manesh, Mehdi Forutan, Mohammad Baliad, and Nazli Makarian, to one year in prison for "propaganda against the regime".
September 22, 2010, the 11th Circuit Criminal Court of Appeals for province Gilan upheld the death sentence and conviction of pastor Youcef Nadarkhani for apostacy. In the law of Iran is neither mention of apostasy as a crime nor any consensus about apostasy in Islamic jurisprudence. Also Iran as a party by undersigning of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights,is bound to guarantee freedom of religion.
