1.6 million Iranian families are not paying their gas and electricity bills to the National Iranian Gas Company. The spokesman of the energy committee of Iranian parliament said that the revenues of the new subsidy reformplan did not materialize and the budget deficit already came from the outcome of the population’s evasion of gas bills.
The deficit is likely to have an impact on the monthly cash payments of around $40 to ordinary citizens, which began after the controversial subsidy reform plan was implemented in December 2010.
