Because of international economic sanctions it gets more difficult for Iran to sell their oil. Iran has been routinely switching off satellite tracking systems on its sea-bound oil tankers for more than a month.
This allows their tankers as they ply the oceans in search of open ports and willing buyers.
The country also stores oil in tankers who lie floating for the petrolharbours. USA officials say the building of economic pressure increases the chances for a breakthrough in talks with International Energy Agency (IEA), starting May 23rd, which Iran would agree to abandon elements of its nuclear program.
Whether Iran is prepared to make significant concessions is unclear.
