Iran: more May 8th, 2012

Yesterday has also a man been hanged in the prison of Tabriz.
The man was not named. He was sentenced to death for sexual abuse of several minor girls.

The number of divorces in Iran has been increased by 7% last year, while marriage rose with 2%.
ISNA reported that State Statistics Organisation said that those mainly under the age of 30 were divorced. Divorcees among women were aged 20-24, while divorced men were 25-29.

The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC) has received reports from Rajaee Sharprison in Karaj that on May 5th Kurdish political prisoner , Ramezan Ahmad Kamal, suddenly has been transferred to an unknown location. The authorities took also his personal items.
Because of his dire health, Kamal was kept in the medical clinic of Rajaee Shahr prison.

The bureauchief of Fars newsagency in Kabul, Abdolvahed Hakimi has been arrested on May 5 in Afghanistan on charges of spying. He has been transferred to an unknown location.
Fars said that this arrest is a misunderstanding.

The arrest of Kasra Nouri, a member of the Gonabadi Dervish order has been extended on orders from the investigative judge in charge, short before his release. March 14 he was arrested on charges of “propagating against the regime in favor of foreigners” and “contact and interview with Radio Farda.” His mother told ICHRI that her son has faced bad prison conditions, particularly the two weeks he spent inside the Quarantine Ward of Shiraz Central Prison.

Newsagency IMA wrote that Iranian cartoonist Mahmoud Shokraiyeh has been sentenced to 25 lashes for depicting a member of parliament from Arak, Ahmad Lotfi Ashtiani wearing a football jersey.
The harsh sentence against the cartoonist is not an isolated case in Iran. In the past, other cartoonists such as Mana Neyestani have also been imprisoned for their work.
