Iran: upheld May 21, 2012

Human Rights Activists News Agency reported that the verdict of 3 ½ years in prison and 70 lashes against student at Ferdowsi university Mohamad Ghafarian is upheld by the Appeals Court.

The lifestyle of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in Iran is comprehensively and systematically denied by the Islamic regime, which exposes them to horrific punishment, bullying and risk of suicide.

A handful of young gay Iranians,  participated in International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 17 by putting photo's on their Facebook page. Some of the carried rainbowflags in Tehran and flew colored balloons.
