Iran: arrests August 23, 2012

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, 32 has been ordered to appear in court next month.
He is a converted christian and has been sentenced to death for his refusal to leave christianity.
According to the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), he has to answer on "charges brought against him, in the courthearing next month.
ACLJ says it is unclear if the charges are new or connected to the apostasy conviction.

In Haris, province East-Azerbaijan, August 22 45 social activists were arrested by security agents. They raided the camps containing supplies for victims of the recent earthquakes.

There are unconfirmed reports that Ahmad Ronaghi Maleki,the father of Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, has been arrested also.

August 14 the poet Seyyed Mohammad Reza Aali Payam, aka Haloo has been arrested in his house and his computer and writings were confiscated.
The arrest came after he criticised the apathy of the Iranian regime after the earthquake.

Iran Human Rights warns for a new wave of massexecutions in the coming weeks. It has been reported that Iranian authorities are planning to execute multiple prisoners, among them some political prisoners and some convicted of espionage.
Most of the executions will most likely be carried out following the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit to be scheduled in Tehran from 26-31 August.
