Iran: further August 22, 2012

Two humanrightsgroups called for an end to international cash and technical assistance to Iran’s anti-drug campaign.
Harm Reduction International and Human Rights Watch issued this call.
In 2010 and 2011 , Iran executed more than 1,000 drug offenders, more than triple the number in the previous two years.
In the past decade USA, Canada and several European countries invested millions of dollars in Iran and neighboring countries that are intended to reduce the supply and demand of illicit drugs.
However the assistance has made it easier to prosecute alleged offenders based on unfair trials, and even apply the death sentence under the draconian drug laws of Iran’s revolutionary courts.
