Iran: sentenced October 15th, 2012



85-year-old Bahai Mohammad Husein Nakha'i from Birjand is sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported that he was charged for propaganda against the regime and being member of Bahai-faith.

The health of detained blogger Hossein Ronaghi Maleki is deteriorating.
After he was arrested in July and foltered and abused in Tabrizprison he suffered kidneybleedings, but was not provided medical treatment, and was transferred to Evin prison in dire health, where he is still deprived of medical treatment.

Website Kalemeh reports that religious scholar Ahmad Ghabel is very ill as a result of a brain tumour.
He is whistleblower on the alleged mass executions at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
In August of 2011, Ghabel was given a 20-month jail sentence. After his release from an earlier eight-month sentence,he informed the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that a group of 70 prisoners charged with drug offences had been mass executed at Vakilabad Prison.

Political activist and member of Freedom Movement Party Mohammad Tavasoli is sentenced to 11 years in prison and a 5 year ban from political and media activities.
His lawyer said that the sentence was preliminary and he will appeal it to a higher court within 20 days.
