Iran: arrests and releases January 9 2013


Kaleme wrote that Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported that the member of Iranian reformist party Mojahedin of the Islamic Revolution, Mehdi Tahaghoghi had been arrested to serve his prisonsentence of one year in exile in Khorasan.

Family of Robert Levinson who disappeared in 2007 in Iran published photo's where he was dressed in an orange jumpsuit like a Guantánamo Bay prisoner.
The photo's are made in 2011, just months after the family also received a video that was emailed anonymously.
Levinson(64) is a retired FBI-agent and worked as a private detective. He disappeared on Kish-island where he investigated sigarette smuggling.

48 Iranians held hostage by rebel fighters in Syria since August have been freed said Iranian state-tv.
The report said that they were released in exchange for prisoners held by the Syrian authorities.
Shortly after they were seized, the Free Syrian Army's al-Bara Brigade said it had evidence showing that the Iranians belonged to the Revolutionary Guards and had come to Syria to "serve the regime". Iran said that a number were retired members of the armed forces, but insisted they were pilgrims who had visited a Shia shrine in the south-east of Damascus.
