Iran: more January 6, 2013



Two prisoners were hanged on January 5th in Shahr-e-Kord.
According to Mehrnews the prisoners were 2 brothers who were sentenced to death for kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old boy.
Their names and ages were not given.

In a letter, published on the Norooz website on January 4th, the reformist political prisoner Mostafa Tajzadeh warns for another "electioncoup".
He wrote that recent statements by military and other officials and their renewed attacks against the challengers of the 2009 election are paving the way.

Etnic prisoner Younes Aghayan who is sentenced to death, was transferred from Mahabad prison to solitary confinement in Urmia prison on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.
He has started a hungerstrike. There is fear of his execution.
He is a follower of the Yari faith (Ahl-e Haq) and was arrested in 2004.

During a one year monitoring program in Bafq Protected Area in central Iran, eleven Persian leopards were identified, including four males and four females, and two of them are accompanied by cubs.
Recently one of the officials of Bafq Governor’s Office said that the area does not need special protection.There are plans to construct a road (Bafqroad) through the area.
The Iranian Cheetah Society, Yazd DoE and Conservation of Asiatic Cheetah Project (CACP) are negotiating with communities and authorities over this potential threat.
