Iran: more January 5, 2013


Mehragency reported that Iran opened the first natural gas storage facility in the whole Middle East, Sarajeh facility, located in the city of Qom.
ISNAnews wrote that it can store 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas and the capacity will be increased to 3.3 billion cubic meters.

The Iranian businessman Amirhossein Sairafi, who was guilty in 2010 to conspiracy, money laundering and violating the 1995 Iran trade embargo and was sentenced to more than three years in prison, has been deported by American authorities to Iran after his release. He was sentenced to more then three years in prison.

Two men who approached a passerby on a busy Tehran street in broad daylight and robbed him under threat of a cold weapon, were sentenced to death for enmity with god.
A surveillancecamera recorded the robbery and this video was aired. Shortly after the video of the incident was aired, the four suspects were arrested. The other two suspects are sentenced to 10 years in jail, five years of exile and 74 lashes.The lawyer of the suspects said that if the film of the episode had not been aired, the suspects would not have been sentenced to death.

The Iranian head of police Esmail Ahmadi Moghadam, says that Iran is developing software to control social networksites.
He says that "smart control" of social-networking sites is more useful than their complete filtering.
This comment came some three weeks after the launch of a Facebook page from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
