Iran: many February 1, 2013

In the prison of Kerman were on January 30 5 men hanged.
The men, Allahnazar Sh., Rahmatollah Sh., Abdollah Sh., Saleh H., and Nematollah Sh. were convicted of participation in armed trafficking of 53 kilograms and 250 grams of opium.

200 Iranian journalists, both inside and outside Iran undersigned a statement objecting to the widespread arrests of their collegues.
They demand the judicial authorities to swiftly release the arrested journalists and to prove that they respect the laws.
So far 16 journalists have been arrested in five days.
Their names are: Pouria Alemi, Pejman Mousavi, Emily Amraee, Akbar Montajabi, Sasan Aghaee, Javad Daliri, Nasrin Takhayori, Narges Joudaki, Keyvan Mehregan, Hossein Yaghchi, Saba Azarpeik, Ali Dehghan, Soleiman Mohammadi, Milad Fadai Asl, Reyhaneh Tabatabaee, and Fatemeh Sagharchi.
Motahareh Shafiee was released shortly after her arrest due to illness.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) condemned the arrests.Catherine Ashton, European Union’s foreign policy chief said that she was “concerned” by the recent wave of arrests.
