On the occasion of the 30th anniversary that marks the beginning of the conflict in Kurdistan a report is made of Ahmadinejad's first Cabinet (the Ninth Cabinet) in the Kurdish region.

After a brief explanation of the history and the emergence of the conflict, all aspects of the conduct of the ninth government to different groups (culture, society, censorship, civil rights, violence in Kurdish areas, the political prisoners and death sentences) are described.

ALO announced that the Revolutionary Court in Ahwaz-city announced the verdict against Said Saki, who was kidnapped by Iran together with Dutch Abdullah al-Mansouri, president of ALO, in 2005 from Syria.
Saki is sentenced to amputation of an arm and a leg, plus a prisonsentence of at least 5 years.


Al-Mansouri was sentenced in Januar to 30 years in prison.



Zia Nabavi was able to meet with his family for the first time since his arrest.
Nabavi, a permanent banned student of the University of Babolsar, was arrested in the end of June and transferred to ward 209 of Evinprison.
He had a shaved head and was in weak physical condition.
It is unclear what the charges are.

Major Shiite religious events during ramadan normally scheduled in Tehran, are cancelled or downgraded by authorities.
This suggests fear that the opposition might use them to stage protests.
Also hardline supporters of president Ahmadinejad belonging to Revolutionary Guard, clerics and members of parliament, want the three oppositional leaders, Mousavi, Karroubi and Khatami arrested.
Last Saturday Mousavi urged his followers to to continue to protest against cheating and Karroubi has called for Iranians to protest on Sept. 18 (Qods Day).

PressTV writes that Iran has launched an investigation into public complaints regarding the abuse of prisoners after the election.
Supreme National Security Council has formed a committee that among other things looks at the charges of mistreatment made by a number of detainees who were held at the Kahrizak detention center.
Imprisoned students were transferred to Evinprison, but due to lack of capacity on July 10, 145 people, among them 10 students were transferred to Kahrizakprison.
Chief Police Inspector Brigadier General Mahmoud Tashakkori said in a televised interview that a 70-meter section where hooligans were held was evacuated for the 145 new-comers.
He also said that the responsible prison officials were suspended, sacked or detained.
When the news of the abuse came out, Supreme Leader Khamenei ordered the prison to be shut-down.
However, the abuse had already claimed several lives.

Iran: list

The by norooznews published list with 72 names of people who have been killed after the elections, is rejected by the Head of the Majlis Foreign Policy and National Security Commission as being incomplete and lack of credibility.
The website Enduringamerica.com published an English translation.
The list includes 12 women and 60 men, the majority of whom were under 35.
The causes of death are mostly bullet wounds, beatings with batons and torture at prisons.
Most people died at the two big demonstrations on June 15 and June 20.
The majority of people on the list have died in Tehran, a few in Isfahan and there are no names of casualties in other cities.
The list does not include many names that have surfaced in the past few days.

Saturday, Mir Hossein Mousavi informed his supporters on his website and called for continued protest against the electionresults.

The student Omid Golbaz was violently arrested July 14 with the use of pepperspray and transferred to a penitentiary that remains unknown to him to this day. He ended up with broken fingers due to beatings and a lost a potion of his finger by being placed in-between iron doors of this unknown penitentiary.
By other torture in the unknown penitiairy he suffered internal bleedings of his stomach and bladder, injuries to his back and a broken tooth.
During the interrogations he was blindfolded and the interrogators were fully covered in black and referred to each other as Hajji or Alavi.
After that he was transferred to Evinprison and even after a week he was not allowed to seek medical care for his broken fingers.
During his detention he was foltered, and severely beaten, also his family was threatened.
At this moment he is being treated for his injuries, on a medical leave with a 50 million touman bail.

The New York Times writes that Iranian universities disciplin and suspend students who protested against the electionresults.
Last week five students of Mashad university who openly supported a reformist candidate, were arrested without official explanation.
The disciplinary actions have taken place also at universities in Tehran, Tabriz and Shiraz,where the Intelligence Ministry forwarded the names of students.
Peykiran Web site named several students and reported that some were suspended for up to two years, while others were barred from dormitories.
Adviran website wrote that 50 students living in the dormitories in Tehran were questioned for hours.
Hardline clerics and influential officials have taken aim at more reformist universities, like Azad University in Tehran run by the family of former President Rafsanjani, a powerful moderate and leading opponent of President Ahmadinejad.

Iran: afterwards

Caspian Makan, fiancé of Neda Agha Soltan, a young woman killed June 20, in the recent protests is imprisoned since June 26 in Evinprison after he made a statement in an interview linking her murder to the pro-government Basij militia.
He told his family that if he signs a "confession" saying that the People's Mojahedeen Organization of Iran (PMOI), killed her, then he may be released.

Amnesty International fears he may be forced to sign such a "confession" under torture and called on the Iranian authorities to take immediate steps to protect Caspian Makan from torture or other ill-treatment while in detention. Also she urges Iranian government to give him immediate access to his lawyer, family and any medical treatment he may need and to release him immediately unless he is to be charged with a recognizable criminal offence.

Amnesty International started a urgent action for Dr.Mohammad Maleki, 76,who was arrested at his home on 22 August and transported to Ward 209 of Evinprison.
Dr. Maleki Maleki, is an Iranian scholar and former Chancellor of Tehran University.
He has for many years worked as an independent commentator, criticized the policies of successive governments.
At the time of his arrest Dr. Maleki was in bad health. He suffers from prostate cancer, an abnormal heartbeat and diabetes.
He is not affiliated to any political party and is said to have not voted in the disputed 12 June presidential election in Iran. He criticized the conduct of the elections but did not publicly express a view about any one of the four candidates.

Iranian MPs have approved 18 out of 21 of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's nominees for his new cabinet.
Ahmad Vahidi is appointed to Minister of Defence, despite Argentine's claim that he is wanted for a bombing in 1994.
Massoud Mirkazemi is appointed as oil minister, despite questions over his experience.
The proposed female Minister of Health is appointed.

Iran: signs

Salah Kurdi, 22 a carrier, from the village of Seyf in the district of Marivan, was killed August 31 by security forces.
August 29 the security forces injured Daleer Golzari,21, a carrier from the village Mirabad, and killed his horse.

Iran: investigate

Newspaper Etemad reported that the deathsentences of 2 minors have now been approved by the Iranian supreme court and sent further to the section for implementation.
Reza is convicted of murdering another boy during a streetfight, 6 years ago when he was 16. He has a psychiatric disorder and can not recall that he has stabbed the other boy .
Hossein is also convicted for a murder he alledgedly committed when he was 16.
His lawyer said he was acting in self-defense.

Saeedeh Pouraghaee was arrested because of her chants of Allahu-Akbar on the roof of her house in Dowlat Ave, in Tehran.
2 days after her arrest her mother was summoned to identify her body, with as cause of death kidney-failure. Her body was half-burned (Roozonline fa) to hide evidence of rape and torture.
Her mother was not allowed to take the body home and only got a notification that her daughter was secretly buried in one of the unknown graves in section 302 of Behesht Zahra cemetary.
Officials in Teheran said to investigate the claims about secret burials.
