Iran: change

Radio Farda journalist Parnaz Azima who had been banned from leaving Iran since February, has been given permission to leave the country.
She was charged with spreading propaganda against the Iranian state.
Yesterday Haleh Esfandiari was allowed to leave the country.
Two other Iranian-Americans, Kian Tajbakhsh en Ali Shakeri are still in prison.
There is still nothing known about the whereabouts of Robert Levinson.



Iran's former president, Ali-Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, has been elected chairman of the Assembly of Experts, the body which supervises, appoints or dismisses thr Supreme Leader.
He obtained 41 votes, his opponent, hardliner Ahmad Jannati got 34 votes.
During his presidency Rafsanjani was a cautious moderate reformist.
Under his gouvernment inflation rose sharp and human rights deteriorated.



Unexpectedly did the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei appoint General Mohammad Ali Jafari to new commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.
He commanded the Revolutionary Guards ground forces for 13 years.
His predecessor, General Yahya Rahim Safavi is appointed a special military adviser to Ayatollah Khamenei.
