Iran: criminality

In Iran, Khorassan Razavi province are 17 men hanged.
According to reports on statetelevision the men were convicted for drugssmuggle.

In Shiraz, Fars province are 4 men hanged in public on Wednesday.
Newsagency Fars reported that they were convicted of banditry, smuggling, illegal weapons possession and armed confrontation with security forces.
A provincial justice department official said one criminal or smuggler had been executed each week in Fars province since the start of the Iranian year (March 21)

In Tehran is an international women and girl smuggling gang disbanded.
According to Fars Newsagency the gang smuggled females from Central Asia into Iran via the northern borders and took them to the Arab states on the southern side of the Persian Gulf through Iran's southern borders.
25 of its members were arrested, including the gang leader.
Most gangmembers were from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, but the gangleader was an Iranian.


According to The Washington Post Iran has blocked a request from the United States to allow Swiss diplomats to go to Kish Island to look for the luggage or other traces of missing Robert A Levinson.
Both US officials as the Levinson family said they believe Robert Levinson is still in Iran.
Levinson's wife and son are trying to go to Tehran and Kish Island to search for him, but the Iranian mission to the United Nations has yet to return their calls about visas.

In Iran there are childoffenders, still on death row.
