Iran: jump

Seven consecutive earthquakes jolted the area near Aryanshahr, South Khorassan province.
The biggest quake had a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale.
The quakes measuring 3.2, 5.1, 3, 2.8, 2.5, 2 and 2 on the Richter scale happened bewtween 07:14 a.m. (0344 GMT) and 08:50 local time (0520 GMT).
There are no known reports about damages.



The homosexual Iranian Mehdi Kazemi, 19-year-old, is in danger of being expelled to England by the Netherlands and then deported to Iran by the British.
Kazemi came to London to study English in 2005 but later discovered that his boyfriend had been arrested by the Iranian police, charged with sodomy and hanged. During his interrogations he named Kazemi as his boyfriend.
Kazemi claimed asylum in Britain, but his case was refused late last year.
He fled Britain for the Netherlands, where he is now being detained and appeared before a Dutch court this week to fight his return to Britain.

Today it is one year since Robert Levinson disappeared from Kish Island in Iran.
The American State Department released a press statement in which they once again call upon the Iranian government to share with the family all information the Iranian authorities have uncovered.
Also they demand, if Iran is holding Mr. Levinson,Iran to notify the Swiss Embassy in Tehran, which looks after U.S. interests in Iran, grant the Swiss consular access, and release him and reunite him with his family.



Spring Cleaning, an Iranian cultural festival is to be held from March 12 to 18 in the Mediamatic cultural institution in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam.
The Title ‘Spring Cleaning’ refers to the Persian tradition of preparations for the New Year, the start of the spring.
The e festival will present short films and poetry recitals along with traditional music and a photo exhibit.
On wednesday, March 18, a Chaharshanbeh-Souri "firefestival" will be held.
