Iran: increase and decrease

In the city of Sari are Saturday two men hanged in prison.
The men, H.H. en R.Sh. were accused of kidnapping the owner of an industrial workshop and killing him by shooting him 10 times in the head.



Iran starts domestic mass production of human recombinant interferon
beta 1, so Iran is the third country in the world to produce recombinant Interferon B1, after US and Germany.
According to the managing director of Exir Company,the drug will be available in drug stores throughout the country by the end of May.
Gamma Immunex (recombinant interferon beta 1) is an effective treatment for patients suffering from infectious diseases such as chronic granulomatous and malignant osteopetrosis.
Researchers believe chemically disabled war veterans with lung diseases may also benefit from the new drug.

Iranian Nobel peace laureate and leading rights activist Shirin Ebadi told she had received death threats pinned to the door of her office building.
On April 3, at the entry to the building of her office there was note written: 'Shirin Ebadi, your death is near',"
She said that the threat against her family and her has recently intensified.
Accompanying her faxed statements, Ebadi sent samples of the threat notes.
One of the threats said:
"Mrs Shirin Ebadi, we told you to give up your un-Islamic and Bahai-based faith but you have continued serving the foreigners and the Bahais and even your daughter is involved.So we will kill her, so you understand".
The letter was signed "The Association of anti-Bahais".
Shirin Ebadi and her rights group have repeatedly expressed concern about the situation of Bahais remaining in Iran, in particular over instances when they have been denied access to higher education.


Workers at Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane factory in Shoosh, continued their strike on the fifth day demanding payment of their unpaid salaries.
The workers at Zaabal Sugar Cane Factory, on the road linking Shooshtar to Ahwaz, went on strike in protest against non-payment of their salaries and last year's bonus. Their salaries have not been paid since mid-December 2007.
Amir-Kabir Sugar Cane factory workers in Dasht-e Azadegan, protested against non-payment of their New Year's bonus.
According to National Council of Resistance in Iran(NCRI), the authorities in Khuzestan face serious difficulties as workers in three sugar cane factories are on strike in protest against their working state and non-payment of salaries.

A report by Eurostat says that trade between Iran and EU-countries is decreased by 7% in 2007.
The report states that both Iran's exports to the European Union (EU) and its imports from the union have been reduced.
Oil was the EU's foremost import commodity from Iran.
Iran is ranking 20th on the list of to the EU exporting countries, China is at the top.
