Iran: investigation

In Iran is in the prison of the city Gonbad Kavoos a man hanged.
The man, Abdollah A. was according to the website of statetelevision sentenced for stabbing an other man.


President Ahmadinejad urged police to ensure the safety of Shirin Ebadi.
Ebadi announced Monday that she had received death threats.
IRNA reported that Ahmadinejad ordered police to investigate this matter, discover the origin of these letters and refer those behind it to the judiciary.


The spokesman for Iran's judiciary confirmed Tuesday that policechief Reza Zarei is arrested.
He was caught last month with six nude women in a brothel.
The spokesman said the case was under investigation. He refused to elaborate further about the case which has caught wide public attention in Iran.

The three students, Majid Tavakoli, Ahmad Ghassaban and Ehsan Mansouri who were discharged by an appeal court, are sentenced by a different court for charges of “propagating against the regime and insulting sanctities.” They were jailed after they published articles deemed to insult religious sanctities and officials.
The students said the publications had been forged to entrap them.
According to Fars newsagency Majid Tavakoli was sentenced to 30 months, Ahmad Ghassaban to 26 months and Ehsan Mansouri to 22 months in jail.


Iran slams Google for using the the fake name 'Arabian' to refer to the body of water that is officially known as the “Persian Gulf".
The name Persian Gulf is in discussion for years.
The name Persian Gulf was already used in 330 BC.
At the Twenty-third session of United Nation in March-April 2006, the name "Persian Gulf" was confirmed again as the legitimate and the official term to be used by members of United Nation.
The spokesman for Iran's Judiciary, Alireza Jamshidi has warned that Iran could file a lawsuit to Google for distorting the name.
