Iran: tour

The five men who were due to be executed are yesterday hanged in the prison of the city of Qom.
Their names are Morteza (21), Hadi (24), Javad (24), Hossein (19) and Mehdi (24).
They were convicted of the rape and murder of a young girl by the name of Narges, and for "lavat" a term used for male homosexual sex.


Saturday Iran held its first international cycling tour.
The Cycling Federation of Iran (CFI) said that the tour features teams from Germany, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Switzerland and Uzbekistan.
Saturday's stage went from Qom to Tehran (135km).
The CFI wants this tour to be acknowledged and registered within the calendar of the International Cyclist Union (UCI) as an international cycling event.

Members of Iran's parliament have made a formal complaint to the intelligence minister over remarks made by former President Khatami last week.
During a speech Khatami said that Ayatollah Khomeini, had not wanted to export the revolution by armed force.
The members of parliament accuse him of jeopardising national security and want to know if he had clearance to make the remarks.
Khatami said that his remarks were not directed at Iranian policy.


National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI) writes that Fars newsagency reported that on Saturday, the State Security Forces (SSF) arrested 94 youths claiming they were "hooligans and thugs," in the city of Kerman.
Last year Iran started to implement a "plan to boost public security".



According to reports of National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI) striking workers of Sugar Cane Factory following a gathering marched in the streets of the city of Shoosh.They chanted: "Incompetent manager must resign."
They were on strike for 7 days. People in cars blew their horns and many locals, especially young people supported them in joining them.
State Security Forces (SSF) tried to hinder the demonstration.
Approximately 5000 factory workers demonstrated.
