Iran: speak and silence

Iran arrested two suspects in connection of the bombing January 7th in Torbat-e Jam, Khorasan Razavi province.
Newsagency Mehr reported that both suspects confessed.


The verdict in the trial of the aidsdoctors Arash and Kamiar Alaei who spent already six months in jail, was postponed Wednesday because of a holiday in Iran.
They had a secret trial December 31st.
The charges are conspiring to overthrow the government and other charges that the prosecution refused to divulge.


The Supreme Leader said during a speech on state television that he thanks the students who asked for permission to leave for Gaza voluntarily, but they don't get permission.
Literally he said: "But I must note that our hands are bound in this regard".
He also said that Iran will do needed to help Palestinian people as it has already done in the past.



A source with National Iranian Oil Co (NIOC) says that Iran increases official selling prices for February crude.
Iran increased prices to Asia by between $0.40 and $1.20 a barrel, as had been expected after Saudi Arabia raised prices.
Also prices for its crude heading to Northwest Europe were raised up to $1.00 a barrel, and to the Mediterranean prices were raised by up to $1.30 a barrel for its cheapest grades.
