Iran: domestically and abroad

In the second year of One Million Signatures Campaign, activists have started to address more specifically and systematically the laws that they are seeking to change.
A specific working group has been set to change the legal age of criminal responsibility which is currently set at 9 years for girls and 15 years for boys.
At the same time, the age of legal responsibility in other areas such as voting for example tends to be higher for girls and boys, or the legal age of marriage for girls is higher than their legal age of criminal responsibility.
The working group will conduct research activities designed to examine the legal age in Iran as well as that of other countries, especially Islamic countries.

An oiltanker which was transporting 30,000 tons of oilcondensates from Iran to the United Arab Emirates, collided in the harbour of Dubai with a containership and caught fire in a ships channel at the city's Jebel Ali Port.
No casualties have been reported.
Clouds of smoke could be seen rising from the area of the collision.
Firemen are trying to contain the blaze.




Iranian filmmaker Elham Asadi is making a documentary about Iran's first female tourist who pedaled around the world in 16 months.
The film, called The Peace Route is the story of Poupeh Mahdavi-Nader who started her trip in 2003.
She visited numerous countries including Italy, France, the UK, the US, Japan, New Zealand, China, the Netherlands, Oman, and the Vatican.
She raised funds for Iranian orphans and underprivileged children and brought the message of love, friendship and world peace.
The film is mostly filmed in northern Iran, Tehran, the Alborz mountainside and a number of countries where Mahdavi-Nader traveled.



The Iranian government allows free trade between Iran and Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
This means that the trade tariffs among Iran and the Persian Gulf states will be reduced to a minimum level.
This will boost the trade between Iran and these states, because of the same tariff conditions.
