Iran: shakedown

Saturday was a man killied in Mashhad, Khorasan Razaviprovince,when a bomb exploded which he wanted to plant in the gouvernors office.
The man attracted attention because of his behavior and was approached by security agents. No other person was injured.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on Richter scale jolted Saturday 23.53 local time, the city of Andimeshk Khuzestan province.
The epicenter was a few kilometer of Andimeshk, in an area with a population of 180,000 people.
There were no victims or damage reported.

Some women who are in Ward 209 were allowed to have visitors. A few were allowed to meet with their familymembers in a cabin.
Mansoureh Shojaiee, Shiva Nazar Ahari, Mahdiyeh Golrooand, Isa Saharkhiz, Saeed Leilaz, Shahab Aldin Tabatabaiee, Jalayifar, and a few other prisoners of Ward 209 were among those who were allowed to have visitors.
The health of most people has worsened because there is no heating. Also the prisoners do not receive the minimum facilities and there is a shortage of food.
The husband of Mansoureh Shojaee, Farhad Davoodi told that his wife shares a cell with 3 others. All four are suffering from chronic bronchitis.

Zia Nabavi, a student with a star and spokesman for the Right to Education Defense Council, is sentenced to 15 years in prison, combined with 74 lashes.
The verdict combines 3 years for gathering and collusion to undermine national security, 1 year for spreading propaganda against the regime, 1 year for disturbing the public peace, and 74 lashes for antagonizing public opinion, as well as 10 years for his association with the Mojahedin Khalgh Organization (MKO), which must be served in city of Izeh’s prison, in Kerman province.
Nabavi denied being a member of MKO and stated that the reason for this sentencing is the membership of a few of his family members in MKO’s Ashraf base, in Iraq.
