Iran: prison

Newsagency Fars reported that May 20th, a man was hanged in public in Ahwaz.
The man, "A. A." was convicted for drugstrafficking.
The report also says that next week a man, named "S. R." will be hanged, he also is convicted for drugstrafficking.
The reports are unconfirmed.

The mothers of the 3 detained Americans, Sarah Shourd, 31, Shane Bauer, 27, and Josh Fattal, 27, visited them in prison yesterday in Tehran.
The three Americans are in Evin prison since last year July. Although they are isolated, they are in good health.
They are accused of spying, but they are not officially charged.
Impressions are that the 3 Americans are used as a exchangetool against captured Iranians in USA.

May 17 three students staged near the house in Arizona of Sen. John McCain a sit-in protest against the discriminating anti-immigrationlaw . They were arrested.
One of them, Mohammad Abdollahi is Iranian by birth and came to the U.S. when he was 3 with his family on a studentvisa of his father, which was not renewed.He can be deported for this.
Abdollahi is a homosexual man.
If Abdollahi is deported he could be sentenced to death in his native country of Iran.

In a recent visit to the Revolutionary Court, a lawyer was told by Judge Salavati that judges have been given directives on how to issue verdicts for the Ashuradetainees.
These directives say to issue a 1-year minimum sentence, even if the accused was arrested away from the scene of the clashes.
Nobody may be acquitted who is arrested on the day of Ashura.
For people who were arrested on the site of the clashes the verdict is longer and could include lashes. Some Ashura detainees have even received death sentences.
The judge did not say which authority has issued the directives.

Kaveh Ghasemi Kermanshahi ended a hungerstrike which he started one week ago.
He was allowed to speak to his family and is in bad physical condition.
He started a hungerstrike to protest his ongoing detention despite promises of release.

Meysam Beyk-Mohammadi, a student English translation at Allameh Tabatabaei University is in appeal convicted to 1 year in prison, previously she was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Koohyar Gudarzi was transferred from ward 350 to the isolation Ward, he had verbal conflicts with Bozorgnia, the chief-ward.
Mehdi Karamian Eghbal, a member of Participation Front is in appeal also convicted to 3 years in prison.
The appeal court also confirmed the 3 year prisonsentence for Saman Nouranian, a biomedical engineering student from AUT.
Nima Latif-Tojjar, an elite student in biomedical engineering at AUT and medal winner of Science Olympiads is still detained.
The political prisoners of ward 350 hold a political fast starting May 21 until June 12, the first anniversary of 2009 presidential election.
Prisoners in wards 7 and 8 of Evin prison have also announced that they will take part in political fasting. They have asked familymembers of the prisoners to participate.
