Iran: further on May 2, 2012

Both sentenced to death on the charges of “moharebeh” (enmity with God) and “murder of the Marivan Friday Imam’s son” Kurdish prisoners Zanyar Moradi and Loghman Moradi were finally visited by a Judiciary representative on Tuesday, 24 April.
A source told the visit lasted about 4 hours.
He took undersigned statements from the two prisoners and sent those to the Head of Justice.
Both Kurds always stated that they had been tortured in prison and forced to make false confessions.

The head of Reuters Newsagency in Iran, Parisa Hafezi is summoned over the news agency’s controversial report about female artists of martial arts in Iran.Reuters wrote that they were trained to ninja-asssassins.
Following this some women filed a complaint and the bureau was closed.
Later Reuters apologized.

Iranian media wrote that the deputy Tehran prosecutor Ali Akbar Heydarifard,   last Sunday arrested and brought to Evinprison.
Heydarifar is one of three judicial personalities accused in the controversial case of the Kahrizak Detention Centre. Tabnak wrote that he supported Mortazavi and had earlier “called for public commendations for his own good actions” at Kahrizak.
Familiemembers of the victims have been pursuing the responsible Heydarifard, Mortazavi and Hassan Haddad in this case for three years with little progress.

Sentenced to death Kurdish political prisoner Shirkoo Moarefi, has started a hungerstrike on April 4th to protest against his ambiguous state. According to his lawyer the Supreme Court unlawfully intervened in his client’s case.
Moarefi was arrested in 2008 on the Iran/Iraq border and has been sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh and acting against national security.
