Iran: protest October 4, 2012


Laboractivist Afshin Osanloo  wrote a letter from Rajaei Shahr prison.
In this letter he tells about his life as a truckdriver and the low payments and long workdays
He also writes that he was arrested and after 1 year of imprisonment he was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of being a threat to national security.
He was denied the right to be represented by a lawyer.

3000 workers from Qazvin wrote a letter to the Labor Minister for an increase in the minimum wage based on the real rate of inflation and on par with adequate meeting the needs of family of four.
According to ILNA more then 3000 workers of Pars Carpet, Seven Diamonds, Ghoflkar, Isaco, Slicate, Alborz Starchco, Alborz Packaging, Niroo Mohareke, Farnakh, MahNakh, Naznakh, Tran Rise Retirees, Osveh Iran, Alvand Yarn, Ramo, Iran Choob, Nakh Alborz, Gas Control Pars, Tak Taz Motor, Qazvin Weaver’s LTD, Mahram, Pars Carton, undersigned the letter.
September 22 was inaugural general assemblee of the High Association of National Workers’ Central Union following election of its board of directors.
Elected as main directors were: Hassan Sadeghi, Norouz Rajab Boloukat, Parviz Moradi, Abdollah Mokhtari, Fathollah Bayat, Satareh Diba, Massoud Niazi, Fatemeh Vahdat, Haiedeh Mosafari, Kourosh Almasi and Mohammad Rahbar and Sohrab Ghanbari, Kamal Safai and Seyed Javad Mousavi as alternates.
Zahra Sadeghi and Shahram Ghandchi were elected as auditor with Aziz Abdollahi as alternate.

In an interview from International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran with Shirin Ebadi she spoke about a new teachers’ rights initiative and called on the Iranian government to “listen to the legitimate demands of the teachers and to act on them.”
The Be Voice of Iranian Teachers campaign recently published a list with names from imprisoned teachers.

Yesterday people demonstrated against the inflation and the fall of the Rial. The Tehran Bazar was closed qnd people rallied and chanted anti-government slogans.
Multiple people were arrested.
