The website Kurdish Perspective reports that the Evin prison interrogators have amputated the tongue of Matin Arjan, a Kurdish political prisoner from Batman, Turkey.
His brother confirmed this and said that his brother is in a very bad physical condition. Because of the torture he suffers psychological problems and severe liver and gastrointestinal damage.
Arjan is in prison since 2005 and is sentenced to 10 years in prison accused of entering Iran and political involvement with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

The Kurdish political prisoner Mohammad Amin Agoushi who is sentenced to death has gone in hungerstrike protesting the limitations imposed on him and the fact that he is held in the ward for murderers. Agoushi is in the prison of Orumieh.
He is along with Iraj Mohammadi and Ahmad Pouladkhani sentenced to death by firing squad on charges of espionage.

Iran: accuse
Journalist Issa Saharkhiz who was jailed in the postelection crackdown, has filed a lawsuit against Nokia Siemens Networks for delivering surveillance equipment to Iran allowing authorities trace him through his Nokia cell phone.
Saharkhiz has been arrested last year July by tracing him through the signal of his cellphone.
He has been in prison since.

The lawyer for Shiva Nazar Ahari has expressed concern that his client will be charged with moharebeh. At her initial arrest in June 2009 was the moharebeh charge conveyed, but when she was re-arrested on 20 December 2009, moharebeh was not one of her charges.
His client is tried in the same Branch as journalist Badrolssadat Mofidi who was sentenced to 6 years in prison and a five years ban from journalistic activities.

Traditionally Iranian statetelevision each year airs with Ramadan the prayer Rabanna sung by famous Iranian singer Mohammad Reza Shajarian.
Since Shajarian last year openly spoke of his criticism towards Iranian presidential election, has the prayer been aired, sung by another singer.
Several Iranian websites, including parlemannews report that the version sung by Shajarian is banned on all its channels, but officials deny this.
The singer told in an interview that the president said people who protested against him are dirt and dust and that he said that his voice belongs to the dirt and dust, and that he wouldn't allow state television to air his voice.

ISC reports that three guards, Ziayi, Karabalayi and Mahmoudi, attacked and violently beat a political prisoner who was detained in a solitary cell in cellblock 240.
The screams of his torture were heard through the ward and put severe mental pressure on 16 hunger strikers who are still in solitary cells in Evin Prison.
The three guards have insulted and abused other political prisoners, especially prisoners in cellblock 350 in Evin Prison in the past.

TRANSPORT UNION RMT has joined British members of Parliament and unionists from over the world to campaign for the release of union leader Reza Shahabi.
Reza Shahabi is the Treasurer of Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company (Sherkat-e Vahed).
After the strikes by bus workers in Tehran in 2005 Reza Shahabi and a collegue, Saeed Torabian, were suspended from work, without pay. They were reinstated after a Court investigation.
June 12th 2010 Shahabi has been arrested after he was at work being summoned to the headquarters of the Bus Company. When he arrived there he was arrested by securityagents.

The journalist and filmmaker Mohammad Nourizad who was recently released on bail, published a sixth and final letter to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on his website.
In this letter he reminds him to the mistakes he has made in his role.
Nourizad is convicted to prison for writing criticizing letters to Khamenei.
At the end of his letter, Mohammad Nourizad once again urges the supreme leader to order the release of innocent political prisoners.

In the city of Mashhad are suddenly more then 70 people executed.
Some of the executed people were sentenced in the past on drugsrelated charges and in some cases, the individuals only had to pay a monetary penalty.
However, their sudden death sentence was issued by the judiciary authorities.
According to Nedaye Sabz Azadi (Iran Green Voice) the authorities have not stated a reason for the sudden executions but it is believed that the intelligence and security organizations have made such decision.
Children below the legal age of 18 have also been among the people recently executed.
The political activist Ahmad Ghabel stated that during the 3 months he spent in Ward 6.1 of Vakil Abad Prison, the prisonauthorities announced that more then 50 people were executed after they were transferred to Ward 6.1. According to Ghabel in one occasion, 31 people were executed, and the Press Department of the Khorasan Judiciary had told a newspaper that 5 smugglers have been put to death.
Five of 17 hungerstrikers in Evinprison were transferred to the Prosecutor's office where they were threathened with six months confinement in isolation cells.
The prisoners, Kouhyar Goodarzi, Bahman Ahmad Amouie, Keyvan Samimi, Gholamhossein Arashi, and Ali Malihi were also threatened with bans on visitation and telephone calls with family members for the duration of the six months in solitary confinement.
The journalist Keyvan Samimi entered the 21st day of his hungerstrike. He has insisted on remaining on hungerstrike. His health is deteriorating.Now its Ramadan, and water and tea are served only before sunrise [Sahar] and after sunset [Iftar] (when the fast is broken).
Reformist politician Mostafa Tajzadeh is called back to prison after filing a lawsuit with six other politicians against several commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps for their interference in Iran's presidential election of in June 2009.
The seven are four members of Organisation of Islamic Revolution Mujahidin (Behzad Nabavi, Mostafa Tajzadeh, Mohsen Aminzadeh, and Faizollah Arabsorkhi) and three members of the Islamic Iran Participation Front (chair Mohsen Mirdamadi, Abdollah Ramezanzadeh, and Mohsen Safaei Farahani). Both reformist parties have been outlawed by Iranian judiciary.

Iran: moving

Currently there are 47 Bahais detained in Iran.The charges are: “acting against national security,” “participating in illegal groups,” and “propagating the Baha’i Faith.”
Baha’i International Community told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that the seven Bahai whose sentences were recently announced have been moved from Evin Prison to Rajaee Shahr Prison in Gohardasht, Karaj.

Kurdish political prisoner Rahim Rashi is in day 24 of his hungerstrike.
Three days ago he was transferred from the IRGC Intelligence detention centre in Orumiyeh to the Mahabad general prison. His son tells that his father is in a very bad physical condition. He says his father is known to not break a hunger strike until he is granted release.
The previous time he was arrested he also went in hungerstrike. When the prison doctor declared that he would be dead in three days if he continued with the strike, authorities released Rahim Rashi from prison.
His brother Soran Rashi, wrote an open letter to ask for support for Rahim Rashi.

While all the attention is focused on the Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani case, the case of deathsentence by stoning of another woman, Maryam Ghorbanzadeh which was sent by Nobakht, the Vice-Attorney General of Tabriz, to branch 12 of the Provincial Criminal Court under the pretext that the case may cause too much noise. By this court the sentence was changed from death by stoning to death by hanging.
Maryam Ghobanzadeh is forced to abortion while 6 months pregnant because a pregnant woman cannot be sentenced to death.
Other sentences of Iranians awaiting death by stoning tOok are quietly changed in death by hanging.
Currently at least 12 Iranian women and three men are awaiting execution by stoning.

Iran: Dutch nationals of Iranian descent

In the city of Ezna in Lorestan province are August 3 men hanged in public.
The men, S. R., A. M.and M. Kh. were convicted for kidnapping of M.H. last year.

Currently there are at least 4 Dutch nationals from Iranian descent imprisoned in Iran.
Since 2000 is Saeed Shah Ghalehei in Evin prison.
Initially(Fa) he was sentenced to death for active membership of MKO, but the sentence was reduced to a lifelong prisonterm.
There is no further information.
Abdullah Al-Mansouri of ALO is sentenced (Fa) to 11 years in prison and is currently in Evinprison.
Further information is not available.
Since September 2009 is Zahra Jabbari in prison. She suffers from rheumoid arthritis and has a heartcondition. It was reported in April that her condition had worsened so that she could hardly walk. May 29 she was sentenced (Fa) to 4 years in prison.
June 17 she requested a prisonleave, but the prosecutor denied this.
Vahik Abrahamian is temporarily released.

Iran: torture and confession
Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani made a televised confession on Iranian statetelevision that she was a complice in the murder on her husband.
She also critizised her lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei who asked asylum in Norway.
She said among other things that she never met him.
Initially Ashtiani was sentenced to death by stoning, but because of the international outrage her verdict was halted.
One of her other lawyers said that Ashtiani was tortured for two days before she made the televised confession.
According to humanrights activists she is in imminent danger of execution.

22 prominent prisoners sent letters of complaints about their torture to Supreme Leader Khamenei.
The report was published on the internet a few days ago.
The letter claimed they were tortured. A source reported that the head of the Assembly of Experts read five of these letters to Khamenei.
Khamenei rejected the complaints about torture, but after an agreement with Hashemi Rafsanjani a five-person committee was set up to investigate the cases of torture. Mr. Younesi and Mohseni-Ejei, two former ministers of intelligence in Khatami’s government, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are among the members of the committee.
The source said that the tortured prisoners raised complaints against those who give the orders and those who execute those orders.

August 4 reports came that Farah Vazehan who was arrested during the Ashuraprotests, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
A reliable source told RAHANA that she is actually is sentenced to death , but that her family did not inform her, to prevent her from worrying.

According to the head of Iran's Prison Service about 2800 prisoners will be freed from jail in connection with Ramadan.
Mostly, this are individuals, who were not able to repay debts to individuals or legal entities.
Some of these debts were returned from public funds, some debtors were forgiven debts and the part was paid by insurance companies.

August 8th is Bahai Afrouz Rouhi, 23, the sister of Faraz Rouhi who was arrested along with Zhinous Joushnian and Nasim Rouhi August 5th, summoned by the Prosecutor’s Office in Tiran, Isfahan and later arrested.
Autorities confiscated personal belongings of the arrested.

The gold-sellers bazaar of Mashhad went on strike in protest of the killing of 3 merchants Reza Khojasteh Toosi, Hesam Barniaee and Mojtaba Naser Ara. Official media reports it as a jewelry heist, but no one in the Bazaar believes this while the attack took place while a Special Security Force station existing exactly in front of the shops.

Iran: pressure
Studentactivist Majid Tavakoli was yesterday-evening transported to the prisonhospital of Evinprison after he lost consciousness as a result of a hunger strike he and 16 other political prisoners began 15 days ago to protest their transfer to solitary confinement and the violation of their legal rights.
Six days ago he went a step further in his hungerstrike by cutting out water as well.
Twitter reported this morning that his condition is not worsening.
Other, not exactly confirmed reports claim that the other hungerstrikers ended their action.

It is reported that 3 days of clashes in Dahdez, province Khuzestan took the lives of 7 people.
The clashes came after people in the city waged protests over serious chronic shortages and problems in basic services in the city and province.

Fariba Kamalabadi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeid Rezaie, Mahvash Sabet, Behrouz Tavakkoli, and Vahid Tizfahm are sentenced by judge Moghiseh of branch 28 of the revolutionary court to each 20 years in prison.

7 renowned political activists filed a complaint against some officials of the Iranian military and information services, including "Commander Moshfeq".
Commander Moshfeq is the senior intelligence officer at Sarallah base (main Revolutionary Guard base in Tehran province).
Mohsen Aminzadeh, Mostafa Tajzadeh, Abdollah Ramezanzadeh, Feizollah Arabsorkhi, Mohsen Safaei-Farahani, Mohsen Mirdamadi, and Behzad Nabavi are seniormembers of Islamic Iran Participation Front and Mojahedin of Islamic Revolution Organization (two reformist parties), filed a complaint of the various insults,lies and slanders and it has been emphasized that none of the accusation raised against them are true and all fall under the section of law dealing with spreading lies and slanders.
Recently there are files circulating that proof that a group of individuals, including com.Moshfeq, ahead of the elections considered the competing candidates, not as official presidential candidates, but as “the enemy” and disrupt the electoral opponents.
