Iran: strange September 11th 2012


On September 10 was in Shahroud a man hanged in public.
The man, H. A was convicted for rape and sodomy.
On September 11th is in Tehran Sadegh Moradi, 27,also known by the media as "Black Scorpion", hanged in public.
Hij was convicted for the rape of 4 women and kidnapping and robbery of 14 other women.
Initially he had been exonerated from the rape charges and sentenced to 10 years in prison but the decision was met with protests and the case was sent to the Supreme Court where the death sentence was reinstated. His family told that they had not been allowed to speak with him for a month  and despite waiting outside Evin Prison, they were not permitted to meet with him for the last time.
Before being executed Sadeghi said he was innocent.

In a speech in the village Gonbad-e Kavus at Caspian Sea to mark its registration as a Unesco World Heritage site, president Ahmadinejad accused the West of purposely destroying the rainclouds headed for Iran.
He said that Iran is moving towards drought, which is partly unintentional due to industry and partly intentional, as a result of the enemy destroying the clouds moving towards the country and this is a war that Iran is going to overcome.
Although Iran is recognized as having one of the world's driest climates, the comments were the latest in a series of bizarre allegations of a Western conspiracy to turn the shortage into a major crisis.

At the Paralympics in London Iran ranked 11th in the medal rankings.
The country won 10 gold medals, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals. This was the country's best showing ever at the Paralympics.

Irandailybrief wrote that on Wednesday September 5th 3 men were executed in Evinprison. They were charged with rape.
September 3 were 3 men hanged in Rajai Shahr prison. They were sentenced on drugsrelated charges. Two of them were brothers, Parviz Parvizi, 1978 and Iraj Parvizi, 1980.

Iran: execution September 9, 2012

Unofficial reports say that on September 8, 2012 in Evinprison 11 men were hanged.
The names are not revealed but one of them was an Afghan Mohammad Dahmardeh, 37. .
The eleven executions have also been confirmed by a second unofficial source.

Christian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani who had been sentenced to death, has been released from prison on September 8th.
He had been sentenced to death on charges of apostacy in 2010. June 28, 2011 the Supreme Court overruled this sentence on the condition that he repent, but Nadarkhani refused to repent and leave Christianity.
Saturday, he was acquitted of the charge of ‘apostasy,’ as well as the new charge of ‘extortion.’ He was only sentenced to three years in prison on the charge of ‘propaganda against the regime,’ and as he had already spent this time in prison, he was therefore released after his court session.

Iran: work, September 8th, 2012

According to Kermanshah Post on August 26  protested hundreds of workers against back-payment of their wages.
In Iran are 5 million dayworkers with no benefits, suuch as unemployment, years-of-service allowances, bonuses, rankings, over time, fixed wages and such.
Website Kaleme wrote about the uniform opposition against Labor Law.
Free Union of Iranian Workers at Mahshahr region petrochemical industries published a statement about elimination of intermediary subcontracting companies in oil and petrochemical industry and signing direct contracts with thousands of contracting workers.
While in the last decade the wages have increased every year, those wages have not kept up with the real rate of inflation. Currently 25% of the workers are paid below the minimumwages.

Political prisoner Gholamreza Khosravi Savadjani has been sentenced to death and there are indications that he will be executed in the coming days.
Familiemembers are told that the excutiondate will be on September 10th.
He was arrested in 2007 on charges of “cooperating with Sima-ye Azadi Television (the Mojahedin-e Khalgh Organization TV station),” for which the Rafsanjan Revolutionary Court sentenced him to three years in prison and three more years’ suspended prison term. Following objection by the prosecutor, his sentence was changed to six years in prison. While serving his six-year prison sentence, his case file was transferred to Tehran through the illegal intervention of Judge Heydarifar, where he was eventually sentenced to death.

Iran: prison September 6th, 2012


Iranian dissident Mojtaba (Bardia) Taherpur was informed on September 4 bij Dutch Immigration Office IND that his asylumrequest was denied and that he and his wife must leave the country within 28 days.
After Iranian gouvernment prevented him from finishing his studies in 2005 because of anti-government activities, he left Iran and went to Dubai.
During a short visit to his family in Tehran he was sentenced to 1 month imprisonment and 80 lashes. Taherpur fled to The Netherlands through Turkey in November 2010.
IND refused to give any further information about the rejection.
Taherpur learned Dutch language and is student at Hogeschool Amsterdam.
He converted from Islam to Zoroastrian Faith.
In Iran it is forbidden and even punishable with the deathsentence to leave Islam.
He has participated in various meetings of Persian opposition groups and on his personal blog he wrote many critical articles.
It is feared that Taherpur will immediately be arrested on arrival in Iran and will be sentenced to death.

Humanrightsactivist Mohammad Hassan Yousefi Fioryousefi has been summoned to serve his five and a half year prisonsentence in Evinprison.
He was charged with participation in an assembly to harm national security and membership in associations for human rights as well as assisting security prisoners to leave Iran.

The spokesman of Iranian Judiciary told on September 3 to journalists that the health of Mir Hossein Musavi is fine.
Previous month Mousavi was treated at a coronary-care unit of a Tehran hospital reportedly after his blood vessels became blocked.

Website Kaleme reports that imprisoned Abolfazl Ghadyani, 67 warned Egyptian President Morsi of the country’s return to a totalitarian era.
In a letter he warned about a repeat of the mistakes made following the Iranian Revolution.
Ghadijani, a member of reformist Islamic Revolution Organisation said that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is a “tyrannical ruler” who had made a mockery of concepts such as democracy and justice.
After serving his initial sentence of one year in prison after the 2009 presidential elections, Ghadyani was sentenced to an additional three years in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime, insulting the President,” and “insulting the Supreme Leader.”

He was in prison on charges of membership of Kurdish party PEJAK.

Turkey has accused Syria and Iran of backing Kurdish terrorist attacks on military outposts in the south-east of the country that left 30 dead.

A revolutionary guard commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya air defence base,says that the Iranian missile Bavar (Belief) 373 system would be an improvement on the Russian model as protection against a potential US or Israeli bombardment.
The S300 system is said to be capable of shooting down planes, cruise missiles and ballistic missile warheads at ranges of more than 90 miles and at altitudes of around 90,000 feet.
To step up preparedness, Iranian commanders say they will stage major air defence manoeuvres over the next 50 days. Brig Gen Esmaili said defences against air raids had been constructed at 3,600 locations throughout the country.

Women’s rights activist, journalist and editor of the website Focus on Iranian Women Jila Baniyagoob, went to Evinprison after being summoned to serve her prisonsentence.
She was sentenced to one year in prison and 30 years ban on journalism activities.

Blogger and human rights activist Hossein Ronaghi Maliki is one of 30 arrested social activists who were arrested after traveling to support Iranians in the earthquake stricken region of Azarbaijan. He contacted his family by phone, informing them that he is is in poor physical condition as a result of extreme bleeding of the kidneys.
Previous it was reported that he was assaulted and severely beaten by interrogators of the intelligence ministry in Ahar and Tabriz.

Agents of the Ministry of Intelligence in Gharchak Prison in Varamin (near Tehran) have banned any contact between political prisoners Kobra Banazadeh Amiri and Sedigheh Moradi with other prisoners.

Website Herana reports that prisons in Khuzestan province are filled with inmates three fold the capacity . The capacity of Khuzestan Province prisons is between five to six thousand inmates, currently over 15 thousand inmates are being held in Khuzestan Province.

50 kilometers west of the city of Shiraz were 19 people killed at a busaccident. The bus struck a rock and flipped over.
25 other people were wounded.

North-Korea and Iran signed an agreement to strengthen ties and increase science and technological cooperation.
The agreement was undersigned after president Kim Young Nam met with Iranian President Ahmadinejad at the Nonaligned Movement summit in Tehran.
The west have placed both countries under an international sanctions regime for their nuclear programs, and the United States has accused North Korea of providing Iran with parts for advanced ballistic missiles.
